Trey Baily, who picked up his double-sided T-shirt quilt this afternoon, was thrilled with the final product! Phew! He had previously cut out all the shirts he wanted for a quilt and now needed someone to finish what he started. I prefer to cut out the shirts myself to the dimensions needed to allow seam allowances as I work and create one-of-a-kind quilt(s), but thankfully, he did an excellent job cutting, and it was not an issue.

I loved that Trey was so tickled to pick up his quilt that he brought his Mom, too. She was impressed with the final reveal and project, and so happy her son found someone to take his 60 T-shirts to the next level. On our first call, Trey mentioned he didn’t have a sewing machine, nor did he know who to quilt the two sides, like a record album, Side A and Side B, but was looking for someone like me to finish the job. I was happy to oblige.

I learned Trey was pretty resourceful in finding me, too. I do not advertise except for my website and word-of-mouth referrals. He found my website, which he said he read, and called the local Crofton Quilt Shop, who know me and direct their customers to me for my custom-made T-shirt quilts (they have for years). They highly recommended that he call me, and Trey did about a month ago!

Since Trey is such a friendly and kind kid, I asked him if we could take some photos of him and me with his quilt in the backyard. Hubby Bill was happy to take the pictures so I can (with Trey’s permission) add them to my website and also this blog post. He was cool with everything, including writing a testimonial of his experience with me.

A few hours after Trey and his Mom left our house, I received this message:

Good Afternoon,

Please see below my review that you can attach to my pictures for you to post.

“I cannot say enough about the amazing quilt Mrs. Tomoff created for me. She took a collection of my old shirts—each holding special memories—and turned them into one beautiful double-sided quilt. The craftsmanship is outstanding: the stitching is clean, the layout is thoughtful, and the fabric border ties everything together perfectly.

What really stands out is how much care and detail went into every square on both the front and the back. This isn’t just a blanket—it’s a memory piece. Every time I look at it, I see moments from my past preserved in a way that’s both personal and practical.

Mrs. Tomoff has a true gift, not just for quilting, but for transforming sentimental items into something you can keep and use for years to come. I’ll cherish this blanket forever, and I’d recommend her work to anyone who wants to preserve their memories in such a meaningful way.”

I am gobsmacked! I feel incredibly blessed to make someone’s day! A HUGE SHOUT of Thanks to Trey for pursuing his dream in a finished quilt of his precious memories.

Quilt on the L is Side A, and the Quilt of the R is Side B!
