Parking Fairy at Old Faithful

Writer's picture: Terri TomoffTerri Tomoff

So maybe you think I waved my magic wand over at Old Faithful in the most visited National Park in the USA, especially in July, it's the busiest month. I was able to swing into the first parking spot near this iconic geyser. Note: We weren't opposed to walking, but a close spot was not too shabby.

I waved the wand more to see a grizzly bear or two, but it didn't help me one iota. The only way to get the first parking spot anywhere in the park is to get up at 5:00 am and get to the gate (no one there, by the way) before 5:30 am. The early bird gets the worm etc.

By the time we were leaving the area, a lucky chap at the right time was able to swing into our spot. Not too shabby for him either!
