Almost Ready and Packed.
We leave the house at Noon. I’ve stopped the mail. Hubby Bill mowed the front and backyard, our dishes from yesterday have all been washed and put away, and our little suitcases are packed. I guess this means we are ready to embark on our planned trip to Italy! No wait, I still need to water my plants, get my Anker phone chargers gassed up, and pick out a writing journal to add to my backpack. It’s the little things like this I don’t want to forget, as it’s T-3.5 hours as I write this post before heading to the airport.
Travel is my salve for living a good life. It’s also my therapy. I feel alive and thrive in sticky situations, especially when I need to figure out signs in a foreign language to hit the loo. Smiles and greetings in the native tongue, no matter what country I’m in, certainly help.
I realize it is a huge blessing to travel, as so many people worldwide never leave their cities, counties or countries. That fact is never lost on me.
As we head off on this adventure, I carry with me not just the excitement of new (and old - think the relics of Rome and Michelangelo’s marble sculptures I adore so much) places but a deep gratitude for the opportunity to explore the world. Each journey is a reminder that the beauty of travel isn’t just in the destinations, but in the moments shared with friends and loved ones. The unexpected encounters and the connections made along the way are what I love so much - serendipity at its finest is the gold I find.
Cheers to embracing every little detail, every new experience, and always remembering how lucky I am (and we are) to see the world through the lens of curiosity and wonder. Safe travels to us all, and may we always find our way back home and to the places that make our hearts soar.
My plan to write/blog when I can, considering the funky WiFi in many places (even if they say it’s strong, it often isn’t). I’ll be sure to take lots of photos to add, too.
Life is in the little things that I hope to share.
With immense gratitude,
Terri
