After a year-long quilting block swap with 11 others (I was the 12th), we celebrated by going on a retreat this past weekend. The lovely three-floor home in Cambridge, Maryland was on the water, a creek or river tributary that snakes its way to the larger Choptank River. Like everywhere else in Maryland, it was a very cold weekend. I only left the house once to go onto the dock to take some photos (one posted on my blog two days ago). No matter though, the buzz of the machines kept us humming along, or at least they did for me.
It was thrilling to work on almost all of my projects schlepped to retreat: several Ladybugs and Lemons quilt blocks; 50 additional 6" scrappy snowball blocks all ready to add the "snowballs" to each block; finishing a Wendy Allen of Breezy Stitches journal cover (thanks, Susie!), and four fat quarter tote bags for the upcoming spring and summer seasons (future gifts).
One highlight of the weekend was the brown bag swap; with a no stealing stipulation. What you picked is what you got. All gifts were terrific!
The photo below is the brown bag gift I selected. The bag was from Mary Nielsen. The mug is adorable, as well as the fabric and the hand-knitted gnome that will sit by my machine from now on (Thank you, Mary!). It must be a gnome two months for me. In December, I received another gnome - a wine bottle cover (or any opened bottle for that matter.) The other photo is my journal cover.
