NHL's Washington Capitals Capture the WIN!

Compared to the USA Men’s Hockey Olympic Final vs Canada, and the speed of play for that particular game, last night’s NHL game between the Washington Capitals vs Philadelphia Flyers was not at that pace. It may have to do with most players not playing (at their high level) for a couple of weeks due to the Olympics (three on the ice were in Milan as players for Team USA and were recognized during the game last night). I am a sucker for how I enjoy the fast-paced skating and an even faster puck screaming over the ice. However, the CAPS! CAPS! CAPS! WON the game in good fashion - even an extra open net goal at the end of the game with the final score 3-1.
But...the best part of the evening was sharing it with my pickleball friend, Erin Castelli. She has season tickets and invited me to the game last night. I drove to her house, and we took the effortless Metro to downtown DC in no time. We cheered on our favorite players while we caught up with our lives, all while keeping tabs on the game and action before us.
You know, the pace might not have rivaled Team USA vs. Canada, but the joy of live hockey, the scrape of blades, the roar of the crowd, and a Capitals win never disappoints. Sharing it with a friend made it even better. Sometimes the real highlight isn’t just the score, but the company you keep, a solid hat trick in my book!
Go CAPS!
