"Fancy" Retreat with Material Girls!

In less than an hour, I am headed to the International Conference Center in Leesburg, VA, for a quilt retreat hosted by one of my favorite quilt shops: Material Girls Quilt Boutique in LaPlata, MD. It's not any old retreat I'm used to going on with my quilting bee or quilt guild. This will be a super fancy one with hotel rooms as opposed to a dusty old cabin, fresh linens as opposed to schlepping our stuff from home, and gourmet meals as opposed to camp grub and crock-pot meals.

Heaven, you ask? Perhaps it will be.

Approximately 124 sewists from the DMV (Delaware/Maryland/Virginia), plus many flying in from around the country, will be at this retreat. My partner in fabric, Debbi Carter (in my quilt bee and quilt guild), is also going!

I am so excited; I've never sewn with more than 42 people at one time. This experience, I think, will be loudish because of all the sewing machines running at almost the same time and the conversations pinging around the room.

Crazy fun is my hope!

My clothes are packed, but that's a sidebar to taking (2) machines and all my sewing supplies. I hope to work on several Christmas quilts and a baby quilt. I also packed fabric scraps for a "just in case moment" when I may want to work on something completely different. Don't laugh, I've made entire quilts from the scrap table while on a retreat! Ha!
