We are ending the first week of Celebrating Childhood Cancer Awareness Month with Stats that Matter.
Here are the stats I discussed in the video - with more commentary:
Quick-Impact Childhood Cancer Stats
1) Every day, 47 kids hear the words: You have cancer.
2) 1 in 285 kids will face cancer before age 20.
3) Childhood cancer is the #1 disease-related killer of kids in America.”
4) Less than 4% of cancer research funding is for kids.”
5) 500,000 survivors live in the U.S. today — but most carry lifelong side effects.
Warning: I get tongue-tied at the end and stutter a bit, but I didn't feel like doing multiple takes. You know, this is me. I'm not perfect, nor do I want to be. Even better, I may create a blooper reel once this month's videos are complete, and also incorporate that other (5) years! That will bring some laughs for sure!
Childhood cancer doesn’t end this first week in September, or the whole month, and neither should our awareness.
Thank you for joining me on this journey in 2025!
Terri
