From the floor of the gala, a quick interview with Dave Smith, who we all adore as the fun-loving program chair, to keep everyone singing, laughing, and having a good time at family weekends, BRASS, and Camp Fantastic camps. Dave has been a part of the organization since its humble beginnings, when Tom and Sheila Baker arrived at the Front Royal 4-H Center in 1982, seeking a place to host a camp for children with cancer. Their daughter, Julie, died of cancer in 1976. It was the director of the camp and Dave in the office when the family arrived.

Dave has served in almost every capacity of Special Love, Inc. He has been a rock star to all the BRASS and Camp Fantastic Campers over his four decades with this wonderful organization, as well as the parents who send their children to camp.

According to the SL website, Dave, Senior Director of Programs & Outreach, has been a familiar face at Special Love, Inc. and Camp Fantastic after turning a chance encounter with founders Tom and Sheila Baker into a 37-year career. He has helped Special Love provide a community of support to the families of Mid-Atlantic children with cancer since its inception in 1983. His favorite part of camp is the campfire circle, where he helps lead the songs and activities.

HOW-HOW!!
