It is Day 21 of CCAM, with my college roommate, teammate (Cross-Country/Track&Field), and great friend, Jodie Smith. Our deep connection with each other, even over and through the miles, oceans, and seas, never ceases to amaze me!
I am past 2/3 of this month, sharing gold nuggets of hope and inspiration to anyone affected by cancer, not necessarily childhood cancer. But that is where I started this crazy life all those years ago. The heart of it is that learning never stops how to help others - and we could all try and help others.
This past weekend, today’s video was taped outside the Fieldhouse at Bowling Green State University (BGSU). As Jodie was sharing her thoughts from those bygone years, she dropped a nugget (bomb?) on me on how she was able to contribute from faraway lands. I never knew what she was up to. Without giving it away, Jodie did a brilliant thing that anyone can do without thinking about a loved one or friend living so far away from each other in crisis, including a quick prayer on a loved one's behalf. She was Manufacturing Sunshine for our family in a deeply heartfelt way!
It’s amazing how a simple act of kindness can go a long way - even without the person knowing about it all those years ago! (I’m trying not to give it away).
Thank you for being on this ride during the month of September! I am having a good time doing the videos this year, and I’m thinking of morphing it into something else down the line, though not daily; it’s a lot of work, even for a minute video. Ha!
