Day 13 of CCAM: Never Underestimate the Power of a Handwritten Note!
There is something special about sending and receiving a handwritten note. Thankfully, while we were dealing with Childhood Cancer with Ryan, friends and family often reached out to us via a card or letter sharing how much they were thinking about us.
I wish I could have bottled that feeling. There is nothing like it.
It’s being special.
It’s being thought of when the world is spinning out of control.
It’s feels like love…because cancer is loveless.
The video below is with my good friend, Jodie Smith. She has always been a prolific card writer, not only to me and my family, but hundreds of people who have crossed paths with her through the years.
Jodie knows the power of sending a card or letter.
Other prolific post card writers and card givers were also a part of our cancer equation. Man, did they lift me up and the family when we needed it most. I remember specifically having a tough week at Georgetown University Hospital with Ryan, and once home, tired as all get out, a card with my name on the envelope was sitting on the kitchen table waiting for me.
The message inside lifted my spirits on that cold night.
