B-I-N-G-O! Yay!
Have you played? Of course, you have, but for cash money? It's been decades since I played for a $2.00 or $5.00 pot of $$ at the Cleveland, Ohio, church carnival held every summer in the parking lot. But the Bingo games were held inside the newly built Parish Center, complete with air conditioning, during a hot July when the carnival was held. Oh, the AC was fine and well, but the cigarette smoking ran us right out of place. I don't remember if I won any games, maybe one for a $5 payout, but I do remember that it was crazy fun.
Over the past ten years, my quilt guild, Southern Comforters of Bowie, Maryland, has held a Quilt Bingo sans pandemic, usually in the fall. It is one of our largest fundraisers—no cash for winning; instead, a beautiful handmade quilt to those lucky enough to yell BINGO! We typically get a large crowd, and it's an excellent afternoon for many of our guild supporters.
Sew, I was all in when two guildmates asked me to go with them to play BINGO last night at the hall we host our event. They wanted to go and see the space so we could best plan how or where we would display all the quilts and other activities coming up on Saturday, March 25, 2023.
Offhandedly, I mentioned this to Ryan on whether or not he'd like to go with me. He thought about it but didn't commit until he got home from work and asked me when we were leaving, so I took the ask as a "yes."
Last night, neither Ryan nor I got the chance to scream BINGO (we were so close a couple of times), but on the 20th and final game, my friend, Wendy, sitting to my left, with Susie to her left, on a longish game called the fill-up (meaning every number is called on the card), got chance to scream that one word - BINGO - and left the place $225.00 richer! She was the night's big winner, and we were all excited about her winnings from our posse of players!
Oh, and by the way, a lot of concentration is needed to keep up with the caller and the numbers on little balls for each card (we had multiples - AACK)!
bSoleille!
