Kira Higgs is an exceptional writer! We met in 2020, when Hubby Bill and I joined Seth Godin's Writing in Community, along with Kristin Hatcher, from the Akimbo days. The daily writing, the people we met from around the country and the world, and the accountability to show up for each other for a few years running were truly life-changing, at least for me. The premise at that first session, from the vernal equinox to the winter solstice (six months), was to write and publish a book. Only a few did on December 21, 2020. For me (and several others from WIC1), it was March of 2021 when I published The Focused Fight: A Childhood Cancer Journey: From Mayhem to Miracles.
There were several people in my cohort, and other means to tag enthusiastic readers assigned to other cohorts, as we muscled our words, sentences, and paragraphs through some lonely days (Covid-19 was raging). But we had each other, and Kira Higgs was one who often added thoughtful, caring comments to my posts. Over the last few years, Kira has diligently worked and reworked her book, Winnowing, published this week, that I, too, was able to watch and comment before birthing this lovely book.
Tonight, as part of Kira's launch process, I attended a Zoom call hosted by her good friend, Leslie Anne, with many joining from around the world to celebrate this amazing accomplishment. The book truly is a gift to the world in seeking the spiritual side of life. It's not a how-to, but rather an offering on how we can think more deeply and clearly after reading about Kira's journey, and how she plants the seed for all of us willing to dig a little deeper into our own spiritual lives, some of it could be unexpected.
Please consider ordering a copy. I promise you will feel lighter after reading the eloquent words that seamlessly weave hard-to-describe feelings into Kira's soulful stories.
bSoleille!

NOTE: Kira is willing to speak at book clubs, even over Zoom, so keep that in mind as you read this lovely book.
