When I woke up this morning , I had a new dimension in my thinking. Yes, my head was still singing the songs from the previous night at the In the Heartland tribute band to the Michael Stanley Band, but it was Ryan that kept me thinking of his incredible odds of being 5x cancer survivor.
Our group of a dozen people had a wonderful kickoff to the wedding weekend that included a nice Bistro dinner before the MSB concert last night. We really rocked the house from song #1. We kind of /sorta were responsible for helping the crowd get on their feet and start singing and dancing, just saying. Had to be there. Hubby Bill just shakes his head to my antics, but relishes all the fun we all have.
But, with all the extracurriculars in sight with Brandon and Shana’s wedding merely hours away, it’s also Ryan’s 30th Birthday today! When he was diagnosed with childhood cancer at age two, in 1996, I could never look down the tunnel to see him at 3 years, let alone today as he pushed in 30 with grace and thanksgiving. His bday celebration began quite early by playing 18 holes of golf with his Dad, brother-in-law, uncle and cousins at The Quarry GC near Canton and lunch at the turn. He continued on as a groomsman at the practice and rehearsal dinner at a lovely Italian restaurant in Bath, Ohio.
We not only celebrated Shana and Brandon (of course), but Ryan, too. We had cannolis and cake! The day couldn’t have been better.
Ryan’s excellent care, compassion and commitment to help him combat his cancers at every turn in the road got him to today to celebrate this glorious milestone- his 30th Birthday!
Happy Birthday to my true hero that I love deeply and passionately with all my heart. ♥️
BSoleille!
