Over the last two years, I've been writing about funny stories from the pitch from a female soccer referee's perspective. I hope to publish a small book about my experiences and add stories from other lady referees too. The whole process has been fun because I'm only interested in funny or positive stories - we all are aware of bad behaviors from parents/fans/coaches - and the game is so much more than that.
Today I refereed three U19 Boys games with a male ref and a "retired" female FIFA referee from Guyana, Nykasie Liverpool. She has traveled the world by refereeing soccer at its highest level. When I mentioned my project, she seemed interested in providing me with a story or two from her experiences. She then added she might have other FIFA friends who could share their stories too. I hope that it will work out for all of us.
For a taste of what I'm writing, I'll share one of my stories from the pitch this week!
