Summer's Backyard Birds

My front and back yards are filled with birdsong, starting about 5:00 a.m. If there is a little slice of sunshine peeking out from the dark skies, there are birds willing and able to share their songs with you. Never mind that you may still be in a deep sleep and would prefer more “silence.” Around here, though, I’ve noticed these cute birds love to squat on our fence posts, and, lately, on our Adirondack chairs. The chairs are closer to the house, so those that sit on them are more likely the bravest birds in the nest.
To create a decent photo, I actually opened the sliding glass door (quiet enough) yesterday evening. It was a beautiful evening that, except for pesky mosquitoes, one could sit out all night. This little birdie, though, did not move a lick. I snapped a few pics that were out of focus. I inched a bit closer and took a few more. The little birdie and I were less than 8 ft. away when I got my final shot, which I liked enough to include here.
Apparently, our Adirondack chairs aren’t just for humans anymore. This little feathered visitor, AKA Gray Catbird, found the perfect perch, posed patiently for the camera, and gave me another reason to appreciate the everyday wildlife happening right outside our door.
No reservations required. The early-bird seating begins promptly at 5:00 a.m., whether in a deep sleep or dream or not!
