RIP Anne Stephens - and Drinking Sunshine ☀️

There is drinking in the sunshine, and there is drinking sunshine. Thank goodness my daughter handed me a sparkling water aptly named Sunshine, because well into our trip back north to Maryland from Richmond, Virginia, we had to turn back on Route 301 and head back southbound enough to get on I95 North. We were there to celebrate a great woman’s life- Anne Stephens.

The little wrinkle in our day was “no big deal,” as our friend Anne used to say. Yesterday would have been her 69th birthday on July 29.

Based on what we learned about Anne from her two best friends and family members, she manufactured sunshine throughout her life, and definitely drank in her surroundings, maybe even sunshine with a sparkling sunshine drink as she battled multiple cancers for 25 years!

She was one of the kindest people I/we know, and the mother in law of my daughter’s best friend. Her kindness; worldly, her laughter; infectious.

It was not secret that several folks were choked up - including me - as we showered Anne’s family in love while filled with admiration in all her resilient moments (years) that were beautifully captured at her service.

You will be missed, Anne!
