Our annual quilt guild’s no-frills retreat was this weekend (it is still going tonight, but I left before noon for another commitment)! I was excited to sew, hang out with my sewing sisters, and work on various projects (finished projects are even better!). If you could call something of a"frill-type" item, maybe the crown of completion with a serenade of a kazoo master by Pat would be a consideration, as seen below in the photos when someone completes a project - though it got cut off...ugh.
In fact, I finished (2) Christmas table runners that I started last year at this very same retreat. The only thing left to do was the binding, so why didn’t I finish before this weekend? I’ll never know.
A few ladies reminisced with me, also remembering those started Santa table toppers and were as thrilled as me to finish them for our guild artist/craft boutique coming up on November 13 (this Wednesday) at Christian Community Preysbriteran Church located at 3120 Belair Rd., Bowie, MD, 20715. Our boutique will be featured in conjunction with our Guild's Challenge Quilt Show. Many fans come to see how members create a quilt inspired by our theme this year — the quilter's birthday! Doors open at 6:30 PM- 9 PM.
Finishing up yesterday with almost nonstop sewing is not for the faint of heart. Oh, yes, we take “breaks” for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and we throw back a few chips and fun-size candy bars from the overflowing snack table for the dozen zealous sewists all wrapped up and working on their projects; it's all part of deepening our bonds of friendship and being with our sewing sisters - laughing, catching up and listening to our favorite tunes.
Although I brought multiple projects (though not too many) to work on, I had my eye on one finished quilt top. I achieved that goal last night. (I will reveal it at a later date—along with my Challenge Quilt 2024!).
bSoleille!
