It’s June 1, 2025 - Kelleys Island, Ohio - Race Day! (Updated)

Oh, I’m still working on my Italy stories (in my head and in an outline), but a trip to Ohio for various events and KI followed in the footsteps of our big European adventure.

The Kelleys Island 5 & 10K races are steeped in tradition, going back over 40 years. I’m thankful to have run in most of them (missed some years due to Ryan’s health challenges), and have driven from our homes in the Cleveland area, to now driving from Maryland. We still had our group, but our numbers were light today. The years wax and wane like that.

Cool but sunny, over 600 runners and walkers made the trek to KI, mostly coming over on the ferry on race day before the 10:45 a.m. start for all races. Hubby Bill and I ran (mostly) the 5K, and so did our peeps, except one who ran (and raced) the 10 K.

An after-race tradition to get pizza at the Caddyshack was fantastic, too. We got our usual outdoor table and ordered a bunch of pizzas to feed the hungry crowd of a dozen.

The rest of the day, we hung out at Longpoint, the place we’re staying while on KI. Good eats and Bocci Ball rule the early and late evening. In the middle of the evening, we did a Sound Bath—my very first one. I loved it!

Then, with little notice and playing Bocci Ball with the sun glaring at me, the brilliance of sunsets was in our sights! There is nothing that can compare to a KI sunset! I had to run to a clearing to capture a few more sunset pics.
