Four the Win Team made the Pickleball Podium!

A former neighbor, Ed, a pickleball player and friend, asked me a couple of years ago that maybe someday we could play in a tournament.

Today was that day.

We started out playing at the Crofton Swim and Tennis Club, graduating to play indoors year round, and got two other players we know and play with regularly, to create our team for today’s tournament at The Putaway in Millersville, Maryland.

The play was terrific. We all played our best in open play (no age restrictions), and finished with a bronze medal ! Ed Kozoil, Ben Laverdiere, Deb Needle, and I were thrilled with our place since the competition was so fierce and intense.

Most players on the teams today were between the ages 25-40. A couple players in their 50s, and three over 60 (our team). I was the eldest player on the four courts, just saying, and trying to hold my own.

I’m so proud of my teammates! We rallied our last games to win bronze. Congratulations to all the other teams; they were so fun. Thank you!

The morning flew by with the sounds of pickleball hitting the paddles over four courts for four hours. It really was electric on every level of play.

A big shout of thanks to Iris Lima! She was the coordinator of her first tournament held at our club, and did a wonderful job.
