A dozen strong women are on the shores of Maryland this weekend near the Choptank River, enjoying each other's company and our passion for sewing and quilting. Good food (like fresh crab cakes) makes us happy, and it drives our machines 100 mph! We need the energy to sew all day long!
We hail from three states (AZ, FL, and MD), and most of us have been friends for over two decades. The gist of our time is working on our own projects, along with our Shoe Box swap. Our swap comprises each sewist deciding on a quilt block that we all make for each other. Last night, we wrapped up the 2023 swap, and today, we started our fourth year. It will be an active year, making all the fun blocks over the next 12 months.
And...quilters know how to show our thanks.
The wonderful house we rent to accommodate all 12 of us is owned by a lovely family. In a show of appreciation, we decided last year to create a quilt (what else?) to give to the owners. We decided on stars and watercolors of blues and greens, and it turned out great!
