Day 19 of CCAM: Empathy Matters

After yesterday's sobering post, I needed something easier to digest. A good friend of mine sent me the image below. It does not have any identifying attribution, and I looked online, but I could not find the original source.

The Empathy Matters image explains it all so perfectly. It's really a visual tool used to align teams, educators, or individuals with the true, objective reality of another person's experience. It is designed to look past assumptions and reveal what a specific person is actually going through.

Cancer is one of them. Losing a house in a fire is another one. The death of a loved one. The list goes on and on.

Most of us can't see below the surface of another human unless they are willing to share. Many do. Many may not.

We can try to apply Bill's The Gentle Advantage when it comes to life's difficult moments and the people we are surrounded by, whether we know them or not (think of a driver not going forward when the light turns green...who knows if they were deep in thought about hearing something terrible?)

Maybe as adults, we are all walking around as"a tip of the iceberg."

Bring the empathy...please.
