For a businessman like Eric Cole, going to camp, that is, Special Love's Camp Fantastic, was just one of hundreds of ways this kind gentleman gives back to humankind. Not only that, he brings others along with him. Eric, a digital creator and Managing Director at Deloitte, single-handedly, with his quick wit, quiet resolve, and likable demeanor, convinced 18 other Deloitte employees to run away to camp with him. Not all stayed the entire week, but Eric and several others did as well.

Bill and I met up with Eric at the fishing hole at the 4-H Center in Front Royal, Virginia, last month. Eric was busy helping campers put bait on their lines and then assisting them when a youngster caught a fish. It was great to see the numerous volunteer efforts from so many enthusiastic Deloitte personnel.

Our families met for brunch in Annapolis, Maryland, today. It was one of those stellar last bits of great weather days to be on or near the water, in this case, the Chesapeake Bay. Eric and his beautiful wife, Andrea, along with his son, Ryan, and Ryan's therapy dog, Ricky, met us at an excellent waterfront restaurant. We had a lovely visit with the two Ryans, and our families bonded over similar life experiences.

So, as you can imagine, I was thrilled when I casually mentioned to Eric that I'd love to have a quick video chat for my blog, today being the 14th day of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and Eric said, "Yes."

Together, we can turn awareness into a brighter future.

Terri
